Joey Bear was born on November 24, 2004 in Oswego County, New York and came to live with us about 4 months later. We don't know his exact life history from the day he was born until he came here but we do know there was probably some trauma in his kittenhood. When he came to us he had a huge gaping wound on the back of his neck. We live in a rural wooded area and we think he may have encountered a predator bird, maybe an owl or hawk, that tried to carry him off but dropped him. He was only about 5 lbs. when he came to us. One day when he was on the back of our bed on the headboard, we saw him sort of crouch down and then start growling while looking out the window and up towards the sky. We looked out and saw a vulture flying over and think maybe he was reliving that awful moment when he was almost abducted!
Joey Bear is now about 10 lbs. and is still every bit a playful little goofy kitten and probably always will be. And that's just fine with us! He gives us endless hours of entertainment and we hope he does the same for you!
